What is Mobile Deposit?

Mobile Deposit is a way to electronically deposit checks from your Internet-enabled iPhone, iPad, or Android-powered mobile device to your bank account.


How do I sign up for Mobile Deposit?

Within the Iowa State Bank Mobile App you will request access for mobile deposit. Once access is requested Iowa State Bank will activate your mobile deposit capabilities. Mobile Banking is available after enrollment in personal online banking.


Does Iowa State Bank charge fees to use this service?

Iowa State Bank does not charge you to make a deposit to your account using the Mobile Deposit service but other fees, such as returned items or overdrafts may apply.


How do I make a deposit?

  • Log into the Iowa State Bank Mobile App
  • Select “Deposit Check” from the Home Page or Main Menu
  • The app will walk you through the steps to enter the amount of your deposit, choose your deposit account, and take pictures of the front and back of your check
  • Make sure to endorse your check as clearly as possible with “For Mobile Deposit Only” and your signature

How do I endorse my check?

You must write legibly “For Mobile Deposit Only” on line 1 and your signature on line 2.

Examples of a proper endorsement would include, but not be limited to, the following: 

  • If a check is made payable to you or a joint owner, either of you can endorse it.
  • If the check is a made payable to you and your joint owner, both of you must endorse the check.

*The deposit may be rejected if the item is not properly endorsed.


What if I cannot take a clear picture of the check?

If a clear image of the check cannot be taken you will have to take the check to a branch location for deposit.


Are there limits as to the number of items I can deposit?

Yes. 

Daily Limits

  • You may deposit no more than $2,500 per business day
  • You may deposit no more than 5 items per business day

Monthly Limits

  • You may deposit no more than $5,000 over a 30 business day period
  • You may deposit no more than 10 items over a 30 business day period


When will my mobile deposit be credited to my account?

Generally, mobile deposits received and approved before 4:00 pm on a business day will be available the next business day.

Mobile deposits received Monday through Friday after 4:00pm, on weekends, and federal holidays are processed the following business day.


Are there items that I cannot deposit using Mobile Deposit?

Yes, you may not deposit any of the following items using the Mobile Deposit:

•Checks made payable to cash

•Checks stamped with a “non-negotiable” watermark

•Checks made payable to any person or entity other than you (i.e., payable to another party and then endorsed by you)

•Third party checks made payable to you and another party who is not a joint owner on the account

•Checks that contain evidence of alteration, or that you know or suspect, or should know or suspect, are fraudulent or otherwise not authorized by the owner of the account on which the check is drawn

•Checks that are “stale-dated” (more than six months old) or “postdated” (dated later than the actual date)

•Checks that have been previously negotiated

•Checks that are reproductions of the original (IRD’s, substitute checks)

•Checks that are incomplete (i.e., Payee is blank or makers signature is missing)

•Savings Bonds

•Travelers checks

•Money orders or postal money orders

•International or foreign checks issued by a financial institution in another country

•Checks drawn against a line of credit or credit card account

•Cashier’s Checks issued to you from any unknown source or third party

•And any other Item that Iowa State Bank, in its sole discretion, determines to be ineligible


Will I see my mobile deposit in Pending Transactions?

No, mobile deposits cannot be seen in Online Banking until the transaction has posted to your account on the following business day.


Will I receive notification when my deposit is made?

Yes, you will receive an e-mail from MobileDeposit@iowastatebanks.com informing you that your deposit has been received for processing.


What happens if I key in the wrong amount on my deposit?

You will receive an e-mail from MobileDeposit@iowastatebanks.com informing you that your deposit has been adjusted.


What happens if my deposit is not accepted?

You will receive an e-mail from MobileDeposit@iowastatebanks.com informing you that your deposit has been Declined.


What should I do with my paper check after I made my mobile deposit?

Securely store your check for 14 days after your deposit and then destroy it. This allows sufficient time in case the original check is required for any reason
